Halifax Developments Map — every active project in HRM

The Halifax Developments Map is a parcel-level record of residential and mixed-use development in Halifax, Nova Scotia. It currently covers more than 1,000 development projects and applications and more than 36,000 units in the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM), from proposal through completion, synthesized from HRM open-data, planning, and permit sources.

Every parcel carries what the public record says about it: the zone and overlays that apply, planning and subdivision applications, issued development and building permits, the inspection log, permit-processing times, civic addresses, PVSC assessment, and dated construction photography where it exists. Records refresh on their own rhythm — permit and planning records several times a day, the regulatory layers weekly, assessment records annually — and every attribute carries a confidence grade and a source history, so a revised unit count or a changed developer name appears as a dated change rather than a silent overwrite. The methodology describes the kinds of public record the map reads, how fresh each is, how every claim is graded, and the known limits.

The map is open to everyone with no account: every project pin, layer, area and search, plus a few full project dossiers per visitor. A free account lifts that per-visitor dossier limit and unlocks the project intelligence layer. It is a rate limit, not a paywall — there is no paid tier. Bulk or automated extraction of the map data is not permitted; see the terms.

It is built and published by Helio Urban Development, a technology-led real estate company in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The 50 neighbourhood dossiers, the glossary, the methodology and the weekly Brief are open to everyone.
