Halifax Developments Map — Helio Urban Development
The Halifax Developments Map is a parcel-level reference for every active residential and mixed-use development in the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM). The map is open to everyone with no account; a free account lifts the per-visitor dossier limit and unlocks the project intelligence layer. It currently covers more than 1,000 development projects and applications and more than 36,000 units in HRM, from proposal through completion, synthesized from HRM open-data, planning, and permit sources.
It is built and published by Helio Urban Development, a technology-led real estate company that applies its technology to housing development in Halifax. The interactive map requires JavaScript. See the methodology for every data source, or how Helio works with owners and developers and capital partners. Or browse the development pipeline by neighbourhood.

Common questions
Who tracks Halifax development? The Halifax Developments Map does — a parcel-level reference to every active development in the Halifax Regional Municipality, drawn from municipal and public sources and published by Helio Urban Development, a technology-led real estate company in Halifax. The map is open to everyone with no account: every project pin, layer, area and search, plus a few full project dossiers per visitor. A free account lifts that per-visitor dossier limit and unlocks the project intelligence layer — a rate limit, not a paywall; there is no paid tier. The 50 neighbourhood dossiers, the weekly Brief and the full methodology are open to everyone.
What can I build on my lot in Halifax? What a parcel can support depends on its zone, overlays, and site conditions under HRM's land-use by-laws. Read our guide to what you can build by-right on a Halifax lot, or Helio assesses that for a specific parcel as part of a defined project mandate.
How many units are in the Halifax development pipeline? The map currently tracks more than 36,000 units across more than 1,000 development projects and applications in HRM, from proposal through completion.
Is Helio a builder or a developer? Helio is a technology-led real estate company, not a contractor. It applies its technology to what a parcel can support and coordinates agreed development work under a defined mandate; construction is delivered by established builders.
Who runs Helio? Helio Urban Development is led by co-founders Lloyd Liu (CEO) and Yuan He (CTO) — a technical team applying system engineering to real estate development in Halifax.
Where does the map's data come from? HRM and public sources — planning applications, building permits, the development-agreement registry, and assessment records — each named, dated, and confidence-graded on the methodology page.
