Programme · For owners of buildings opening Halifax as of 15 October 2026
When will it be full, and at what rent.
An owner of a new rental building carries one uncertain number that decides the profit and the guarantee: when the building fills, and at what rent. We date it from a nightly record of the market and the openings around you.
Dartmouth: about 290 leases a month; a one-bedroom takes about 91 days. Tap the map to move the pin to your building.

The market tonight
Where the market is slow now.
A Dartmouth one-bedroom takes about three months to lease; a mainland one-bedroom three weeks. Eighty-two per cent of recent price changes were cuts, typically $100 a month.
Asking rents are what landlords ask, not what renters sign; the rent a unit leased at is read separately and sits lower.

How right the dates are
Tested on 74 finished buildings.
Past rough-in, the record's opening estimate is within about six weeks for half of buildings. It says so, with the error bands, and it is wider before the first inspection and again at the end, where the city's own completion date trails the people moving in.
A backtest on buildings that have opened, not a forecast of yours.
