  • Account Information (Halifax Developments Map): Opening the interactive map at /developments/ requires a free account. When you sign in with Google, LinkedIn, or an emailed code, our authentication provider (Clerk) collects your email address, your name and profile image where your provider supplies them, and sign-in timestamps. We ask for this so we know who is using the data; there is no paid tier. Helio's own database stores only an opaque account identifier and your notification preferences — it holds no name, email address, phone number, or postal address, and that restriction is enforced by an automated check on every build.

We use the information we collect to:

  • Respond to your inquiries and provide the services you request
  • Send you relevant information about our services, including the Development Playbook
  • Process and evaluate your application to work with us

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that may collect information:

Transfers outside Canada. Helio is based in Nova Scotia, but the providers above store and process data on servers in the United States. Account information is therefore held outside Canada and may be accessible to United States authorities under the laws of that country. By creating an account you consent to that transfer. If you would rather not, the neighbourhood dossiers, The Halifax Brief, Helio Markets, the Calculators and all published guides remain open without an account.

Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide our services and fulfill the purposes described in this policy. For application and lead information, we typically retain data for up to 3 years unless you request deletion.

Accounts. Account information is retained for as long as the account exists. Ask us to delete it and we will remove the account from our authentication provider and the associated preference record; we do this within 30 days.
